“Canada’s Day of the Child” Fair
Friday, November 20, 2009
9:30 am to 9:00 pm
2325 Preston Avenue
Market Mall
On this day, The Children’s Discovery Museum and Market Mall are jointly hosting an event to celebrate children. In 1959 and 1989, Canada joined with the United Nations to promote the well being of children. This little known day has become even more important as the numbers of children in need right here at home, is growing each year.
Quote “The Convention on the Rights of the Child outlines responsibilities of governments, families, and caregivers, as well as the rights of the child. All children and youth have inherent rights, which can be defined as those basic things that are necessary to live and grow with dignity as human beings. For example, children have rights to a supportive family, to provision of adequate food, clothes, housing, and education, to protection from all forms of harm, and to participation.” Unquote. More information is available at canadiancrc.com.
To expand knowledge about this very important day - exhibits, music, dancing, displays, children’s activities and opportunities will be presented by non profit and volunteer organizations throughout the Mall.
Please join in providing education, expanding horizons, opening doors and yes, entertainment by and for children on November 20. Interactive displays are welcome.
